The Traveling Lucys Charleston Holiday Trip December 2026 - Master Itinerary

Discover Award-Winning Charleston This Holiday Season

Consistently recognized as one of America's most beloved destinations, Charleston offers an unforgettable blend of history, charm, and Southern hospitality. Named the "Top U.S. City" by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards for three consecutive years and celebrated by Travel + Leisure and Southern Living, Charleston continues to captivate visitors from around the world. From the moment you arrive, you'll be welcomed by friendly locals and the warm hospitality that has become a hallmark of the city.

The holiday season is an especially magical time to visit Charleston. Historic streets glow with festive lights and decorations, horse-drawn carriages clip-clop past beautifully adorned homes, and seasonal events fill the city with holiday spirit. With mild winter temperatures, festive markets, waterfront celebrations, and charming holiday tours, Charleston offers all the magic of the season without the harsh winter weather.

At the heart of the city lies Charleston's iconic King Street, where history and modern luxury come together. Lined with beautifully restored historic buildings, King Street is home to three distinct districts: the Design & Dining District, the Fashion District, and the Antiques District. Whether you're searching for the perfect holiday gift, a unique piece of local art, designer fashion, or an unforgettable dining experience, you'll find it here.

Book lovers won't want to miss Blue Bicycle Books, a beloved independent bookstore known for its curated selection of new and used books and support of local authors. Antique enthusiasts can step back in time at George C. Birlant & Co., a Charleston institution that has offered exceptional antiques from around the world since 1922.

Whether you're planning a holiday getaway, a shopping weekend, or a relaxing escape filled with history and culture, Charleston delivers an experience that is as festive as it is unforgettable. Come discover why so many travelers return year after year—and create holiday memories that will last a lifetime.
